First Time – Short Script Review (Available for Production)

First Time

A young man pays a visit to a dingy back street massage parlour, but there’s more than a relaxing rub-down in the cards.

There’s nothing like a boy’s first time. First time playing baseball. First secret crush. First trip to a brothel . Um, I mean massage parlor… (Perhaps it’s best we stop right here.)

A dark drama, First Time opens as Michael, 18, stumbles into “5 Star Massage” and asks to “meet” a girl. (I promise, no more “air quotes”.) So baby-faced is this boy that the Madam asks for ID. But Michael doesn’t even have his driver’s license yet. Eventually the woman takes pity on Michael. After all, don’t boys deserve to have fun?

Michael’s introduced to Candy – a hardened pro who melts when she learns of Michael’s sexual innocence, and vows to give him an unforgettable first time. But before good times can roll, Michael makes an unfortunate comment; sending Candy spiraling into defensive mode. She’s a good person, supporting her daughter – and she deserves his respect. A raw back and forth ensues between the two, culminating in… well, you’ll have to read the script to find out.

Despite the graphic nature the script, First Time has touching human moments. And an ending you won’t expect…

About the writer: Born and raised in England, Stephen Wells is a graphic designer who has been writing for 5 years after getting the screenwriting bug in 2009. He had a feature script optioned in 2013 and placed as a Quarter-Finalist in the 2014 Bluecat feature competition.

Pages: 12

Budget: Low. A handful of characters, and a single massage parlor setting. There is a sex scene in this (duh), which could be graphic or subtle – depending on one’s artistic taste.

Pet Names – Short Script Review (Available for Production)

Pet Names

Two guys try having a serious conversation about renaming their….you know…their junk.

Ah – what to say about Pet Names?  This one’s a simple little script; just five pages (six, if you want to count the title.) The topic: two college guys in a bar, discussing the best euphemisms to use for their… uh, special purpose.  This one’s definitely for the adults – quick and funny, and eminently easy to shoot.  All you need is a bar, and two decent actors with good comedic timing.  Perfect for an indie director on a budget.

About the writer: Phil Clarke, Jr. is a contest winning writer who has had feature films optioned, but no mainstream feature length productions as yet.  Produced shorts of Phil’s have been featured at Cannes and Clermont Ferrand.  More of his work is available at his website: www.philclarkejr.com.  (IMDB Credits listed here.)

Expected Budget: Micro

Primary Genre: Comedy

Page Length: 5

Naughty – Short Script Review

Naughty

Santa Claus visits the home of a very naughty girl.

Wow.  The logline for this one sounds like the start to a million different Men’s Magazine articles, doesn’t it? And yes – there are certain aspects to this script that are a touch – shall we say Salacious?  Blue? Dare we venture… even a tad bit Naughty?

That said – this script rises (tee-hee…I just said “rises”) above the obvious – delivering an intelligent, humorous little riff as to the dangers of role playing…especially on Christmas Eve.  One could argue that there’s nothing gratuitously crude in this one – even the wonderfully giggle-worthy montage that writer David Troop offers up near the end.

So – “unwrap” this script and give it a spin.  And if you like it, “shoot” off an email to the author.  It’s time to start makin’ some videos…  Talented amateurs and pros welcome to apply…

About the writer: David M Troop resumed writing in 2011 after a twenty-five year hiatus.  Since then, he has written about 50 short scripts, two of which have been produced.   Dave would like to make it three.  He is a regular, award-winning contributor to MoviePoet.com.  Born on the mean streets of Reading, PA, Dave now resides in Schuylkill Haven with his wife Jodi and their two lazy dogs Max and Mattie.

Pages: 7

Budget: Very low.  Depending on how realistic one wants to get with Puddin’ McSprinkles, the raunchy elf…
